Toggle Blocks
Toggle blocks let you collapse parts of a document to hide detail and keep long notes readable. You can collapse a single block, a whole section under a heading, or several blocks at once.
Collapse a single block
Hover over any block to reveal the collapse toggle in the left gutter, then click it. The block folds into a single collapsed line. Click the line again to expand it.
Almost every block type can be collapsed:
Paragraphs, quotes, callouts, and lists
Images, graphs, and Plotly charts
Embeds
Code blocks

Collapse a section
Collapse a heading to hide everything beneath it, up to the next heading of the same or higher level. Collapse a horizontal rule to hide everything through the next rule.
The heading's collapse toggle sits in the title pill next to the heading text. A small counter shows how many lines are hidden, so you always know how much is folded away.
Click a collapsed heading or rule to expand it — the cursor lands where you clicked.
Collapse several blocks at once
Select a range of blocks, then either click any collapse toggle in the selection or press ⌘⇧. (Cmd
When several collapsed blocks sit next to each other, they merge into a single collapsed bar to save space.
Automatic behavior
Auto-expand on edit — if you make an edit that would cause a collapsed section to swallow visible content (for example, demoting a heading into a collapsed section above it), the section expands automatically and scrolls your cursor back into view.
Presentation only — the collapsed state is a view convenience. It does not change the underlying document, and collapsed content is fully included when you export, copy, or share.
