Mentions
Corca lets you mention people by name inside a document or a chat. A mention links to that person's profile, tells them they were named, and shows at a glance whether they can open what you're working on.
Typing a mention
Type @ in a document body or in any chat input to open the mention picker. It opens on the first character and lists people with their avatars.
Type a few letters to narrow the list to people whose name or username matches.
Type
@on its own to see people the document already knows, with anyone mentioned before listed first.Press Enter to insert the highlighted person. The query you typed is removed and replaced with a chip.
The picker never commits as you type — typing another letter only narrows the list, so a partial name can't insert the wrong person. Only Enter or a click inserts a mention.
The picker does not open in the middle of a word (for example in foo@bar) or inside a code block.
Mention chips
An inserted mention shows as a chip with @ and the person's name. In a read-only document the chip is a link to their profile.
Hover a chip to see a card with the person's avatar, full name, and
@username. The profile link is offered whether or not the document is locked.Press Backspace right after a chip to collapse it back to a plain
@and reopen the picker.Copy a chip and paste it — in the document or into a chat — and it stays a chip, not blue plain text.
Mentioning someone who can't open the document
If you mention someone the document hasn't been shared with, their chip turns grey and the hover card reads "No access to this document" with an Invite button.
Click Invite: the chip turns blue immediately and the share dialog opens with that person already listed. Colleagues on the team that owns the document are never greyed. If you can't share the document yourself, nothing is greyed for you.
Getting notified
Mentioning someone in a chat comment notifies them right away — even if they already follow the chat and have read it. The notification carries an "@" badge, reads "<Name> mentioned you in a comment on <document>", and previews the comment text. Clicking it opens the document with the chat open and scrolled to that message.
Mentioning the same person twice in one comment sends one notification.
Mentioning yourself sends nothing.
Editing the comment to remove the mention takes the notification back; re-adding it doesn't send a second one. Deleting the comment takes it back too.
Mentions in a document body follow the same rule: editing the mention away withdraws the notification and clears the unread badge.
Team chats and document chats
Who you can mention depends on where you are:
In a team chat — a chat with no attached document — the picker lists members of that team. To mention someone outside the team, type their whole username.
In a document chat or a document body, the picker also finds people outside the team, so you can mention someone and then invite them.
Mentioning someone outside a team chat
If you mention someone who isn't a member of the team, their chip turns grey and the hover card reads "<Name> is not a member of this team and won't be notified", with an Invite button.
Click Invite to send them a team invite. The team dialog opens on Members with their invite pending. Clicking Invite again doesn't send a second invite.
Mentions of team members stay blue and show no Invite button. In a document, a grey chip still means the person has no access to that document, and Invite there shares the document with them.
